First ECS Volleyball Season a Smashing Success

Volleyball Player Jumping at Net to Block the Ball

Our very first volleyball season at Evergreen Christian School was a SMASHING success! After admission into the Northern Virginia Independent Athletic Conference (NVIAC), our Lady Eagles competed against other JV and Varsity teams in the league. Of the sixteen girls who competed, eight had never played competitive volleyball prior to this school year. Further, two girls who were brand new to the sport were starters. In short, this was a very young but effective team! After two months of competition (including one win against a local varsity team), the Lady Eagles were seeded seventh in the JV tournament and walked away as the second place champions! The girls and I look forward to having both a JV and Varsity roster next fall.

I am incredibly proud of this team and grateful for their unwavering dedication and spectacular attitudes. I would also like to recognize the parents for their support. Whether it was snacks for the kids, support from the stands, or help with logistics, we received immense help to make this season happen. Coach Philogene, our Athletic Director, was an invaluable support throughout the season. Anna Offman, our Team Mom and Logistics Coordinator, was an irreplaceable asset behind the scenes. as well. Kristin Stitzlein was a wonderful assistant and encouragement throughout the season. I know the girls hope to work with her more in the years ahead. Dana Wahl, my high school volleyball coach (and aunt!) really did "coach me through coaching" this season, and I am incredibly blessed to follow in her footsteps. Lastly, thank you to our God in heaven who makes all things work together as they ought; for HIS glory and for our good (Romans 8).

Soli Deo Gloria, and GO EAGLES!
