Wrestling

About the Program

As a winter sport, the season runs from November through February. Practices generally run 3-4 days a week. There are 6-10 events during the season held on Fridays and Saturdays. Participants will need to purchase wrestling shoes. Uniforms and head gear will be provided during the season.

All are welcome to wrestle at ECS—there are no gender or size restrictions. Wrestlers learn to use their bodies in conjunction with their brain to engage in a “chess match” on the mat with their opponent. Wrestling encourages self-confidence and poise in all aspects of life.

2024-2025 Season

Wrestling was not only the first official athletic team added at ECS, but our first coach hired was a wrestling coach. It is true that wrestling tends to be a relatively small sport when compared to soccer or basketball, but it is one of the most biblically based – the word actually appears eight times in scripture! Our team has grown over the years from a small handful of students in 2021, to well over a dozen in 2024. In commenting on this year’s team, Coach Morgan noted, "We had many new wrestlers trying the sport for the first time, but our six returning veterans stepped up as leaders.” It is true that both basketball and volleyball have brought home more than a few trophies over the years, but Coach Morgan thinks the future of wrestling at ECS looks brighter than ever. “All our athletes have shown remarkable growth as we continue building this program. I'm proud of these athletes for their hard work during the season as we look to VISAA competition in 2025-2026."
