ECS senior Ben Harders (shown with College Advisor Dr. Christine McCurdy and Head of School Michael Dewey) was selected as a recipient of the Rensselaer Medal from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. This premier merit scholarship, with a value of $40,000 per year, is guaranteed for four years (five years for the B.Arch. program) for each Medalist who is accepted and enrolls at Rensselaer. Well done, Ben!

We are immensely proud to announce that Mr. Jacob Brown is Evergreen Christian School's first ever National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist. The National Merit Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition for high school students that recognizes superior academic achievement based in part upon a student’s performance on last year’s PSAT. As one of 16,000 Semifinalists named in this year’s National Merit Scholarship Competition, Jacob now moves on to compete for some 6,870 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million that will be offered next spring. As a Semifinalist, Mr. Brown is among the top scorers on the PSAT in the state of Virginia. Well done, Jacob!

Count Your Blessings: In just three year’s time, Evergreen Christian School has accomplished quite a bit. We have gone from 36 students enrolled in 2021 to over 170 students in 2024. While our first graduating class was comprised of only 16 seniors, we saw the class of 2024 bring in more than one million dollars in scholarship offers from some of the most prestigious universities in our country. This year we will graduate 40 seniors, and the following year over 50. This past April, the Middle States Association granted ECS full accreditation through 2032. Our very first year as a school we offered 21 different classes; this year we offer 75 different courses from which our students can select. As the old hymn appropriately reminds us, “Count your blessings, name them one by one; count your blessings, see what God hath done.

Gov Youngkin Addresses Graduates at 2024 Commencement

Mission Accomplished!

July 9, 2024

Governor Youngkin commended Evergreen for providing the kind of education where students are challenged to apply their faith to contemporary issues facing our world today. He concluded his message to graduates with this charge: “Go out into the world with what you have been given. Go out into the world and be confident. Go out in the world and stand strong in your faith. Go out into the world with hope in the Lord and do not worry. You will soar!”

ECS has been granted full accreditation from Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS) without stipulations (meaning there were no changes needing to be made before taking effect), and extends through the year 2031.
