Basketball Player with Basketball

Matthew Shelton (Class of 2024) has signed as a transfer to play Division 1 basketball at Liberty University. During his time at ECS, Matthew was a prolific scorer who became the first student athlete to surpass 1,000 points in school history.

To kick off Homecoming Week 2026, ECS invited back members of the past two graduating classes to speak at a special Chapel. Our hearts were warmed by the turnout. Mr. Osborne led a panel alumni discussion about what it looks like to leave ECS and head to college or other post-grad opportunities. Students shared how their faith has been challenged and strengthened after graduation.

Prison Ministry

May 6, 2026

Alumnus Matthew Blocker recently spent time in ministry to prisoners at a maximum-security facility and said this about his experience: "I have never been happier to meet people, get to know them, and pray for them. There was a genuine smile on my face for all three hours I was there. This experience showed me that anyone and everyone can be called into the Kingdom of God, no matter what they have done; no one is too far from God."

Todd Lepard (Class of 2025) is attending Colorado School of Mines studying Mining Engineering. He was elected to a vice president position at his school's Inter-Fraternity Council. Todd says, "It has given me the opportunity to have an impact on my schools' Fraternity-Sorority life by planning events, impacting recruitment, leading philanthropy causes, and engaging with the local community. Furthermore, this role has allowed me to get to know and develop relationships with the faculty, staff, and administration of Colorado School of Mines."

Not only is Niya Dorothy Hartley (shown playing guitar) a proud ECS alum (Class of 2025), but she is also an up-and-coming musical artist who has been gigging around Northern Virginia for the past two years. When she’s not studying as a first-year student at Liberty University, you can probably catch her at local venues dazzling audiences with a wide selection of country and acoustic favorites.

Dean's List

It’s one thing to succeed in high school and get into a good college, quite another to then succeed as a full-time college student. While we have complete confidence that all of our graduates have been thoroughly prepared for the rigors of college coursework, it is always great to hear about their success. Ben Harders (ECS Class of 2025), shown at far left in the ECS Library photo, was named to the Dean’s List at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for the Fall 2025 Semester.

Our very own Gabe Hockstra (Class of 2025) (shown at left next to College and Career Advisor Dr. McCurdy) is quickly making his mark at the University of Notre Dame. In just his first year as a college student, Gabe has already been a featured writer in The Irish Rover, one of the many on-campus student publications at the school.
